Roush Yates Engines and FORD Performance set Multiple Records at Martinsville Speedway

Roush Yates Engines and FORD Performance powered Joey Logano to the Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series poles, a new track record and his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win at Martinsville Speedway. Team Penske captures two of three podium positions in Sprint Cup race at Martinsville.

The No. 29 Cooper Standard FORD F-Series truck of Joey Logano dominated the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Kroger 250 at Martinsville leading more than half the race in route to the win. He also set a blistering qualifying speed of 97.088mph which is a new track record, earning him the pole position.

“It’s cool to say that I’ve won in all three series now.” Said Logano, “I prepped my tires down the back straightaway and made sure I had them clean enough. I had a good jump and then just drive it in there and hope for the best.”

It’s Logano’s first career Camping World Truck Series. Roush Yates Engines have powered Logano to a win in all 3 of NASCAR’s National Series this year including the Daytona 500 for Sprint Cup, Xfinity at Phoenix and Camping World Trucks at Martinsville. He becomes the 26th driver in NASCAR history to complete such a feat. He has also sat on the pole for all three of NASCAR’s National Series this year.

With the win, Brad Keselowski Racing has won two of three Camping World Truck Series races in 2015. Both Tyler Reddick and Logano have won their first career Truck Series races this year. Reddick sits just 2 points out of 1st in Truck Series points after this weekend.

On Sunday, Logano in his No. 22 Pennzoil FORD Fusion qualified on the pole for the STP 500 at Martinsville and led 108 laps. Team Penske teammate Brad Keselowski had a great day leading 18 laps and finishing second. Logano would finish the race in a closely contested third. The second and third place finishes give FORD Performance drivers momentum heading into Texas in two weeks.

“Team Penske has done a great job working with FORD with the Roush Yates motors.” Said Logano “We had a fast car and obviously a good motor and it all kind of worked out well.”

Logano and Keselowski are now in the Top five of Sprint Cup points and both drivers have already qualified for The Chase. Both drivers have one win a piece and a total of five top five between them in six races.

The Sprint Cup Series takes next weekend off for Easter then heads to Texas Motor Speedway. Logano is the defending champion of the Duck Commander 500 at Texas. The Team Penske duo led more than half the race in 2014.

The Pirelli World Challenge was back in action this weekend for the Cadillac Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Round 3 of the GTS class saw a podium sweep with the FORD Mustang Boss 302 as Dean Martin, Kurt Rezzetano and Spencer Pumpelly finished top three. Round 4 of the GTS class saw the top four positions swept by the FORD Mustang Boss 302 with Pumpelly, Andrew Aquilante, Rezzetano and Martin sweeping the top four positions.

“It was a really good race.” Said Pumpelly “It was good for FORD and the manufacturer points to go 1-2-3-4. The ability of the Mustang and its torque to drive off so many of the 90 degree corners is a big advantage.”
