Tyler Reddick Homestead-Miami Raceway Recap

Tyler Reddick (@tylerreddick), driver of the No. 19 Draw-Tite Ford F-150, scored a sixth place finish in Friday night’s Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.  Reddick claimed his ninth top 10 finish of the season and grabbed Sunoco Rookie of the Race honors for the ninth time in 2014.

Reddick qualified fourth and ran solidly among the top 10 during the early stages of the 134 lap, 200 mile event.  He climbed back inside the top five after a sequence of pit stops following the fourth caution on lap 72.

Tyler lined up fifth when the race went green on lap 109 following the sixth caution.  Two laps later Reddick stacked it three-wide in Turn 2 racing for fourth place.  The No. 19 Draw-Tite Ford F-150 slipped sideways and spun off the corner but fortunately didn’t hit a wall or one of his fellow competitors.  Reddick pitted on lap 112 for four tires and restarted 21st when the race went green on lap 114.

From there the Reddick rally was on.  Over the next 20 laps he sliced his way through traffic, gaining a total of 15 positions.  He grabbed 10th place on lap 121 and picked off sixth position on the final lap of the race to earn his ninth top 10 finish.

Despite a red hot late season stretch that saw Reddick rack up seven top 10 finishes in his last eight starts (plus win two pole positions), he came up just short in the battle for Sunoco Rookie of the Year.  Reddick and Ben Kennedy tied in the final rookie points with Kennedy earning the tiebreaker due to a better finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings.
