Tyler Young honors his dads health in Texas homecoming

Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender, Tyler Young, will carry the colors of Baylor All Saints Medical Center on board the No. 02 Chevrolet Silverado for Friday night’s WinStar World Casino and Resort 350k at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. Young, who hails from Midland, Texas, about 315 miles from the 1.5-mile tri-oval, has a reason to celebrate as he heads into the 20th race on the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule at his home track.

October, 2014 commemorates five years ago that Randy Young, Tyler’s father and the owner of Young’s Motorsports, had an unexpected health issue and the entire Young’s family found themselves in a different type of race – the race for life. Randy needed a liver transplant. In March, 2009, doctors diagnosed Randy with primary biliary cirrhosis of the liver and he was immediately put on the transplant list. In October, 2009, the father of three received his liver transplant at Baylor Simmons Transplant Institute at Baylor All Saints Medical Center.

This weekend, the No. 02 Young’s Motorsports team will pay tribute to the Fort Worth, Texas hospital, specifically the Baylor Annette C. and Harold C. Simmons Transplant Institute at Baylor All Saints Medical Center, for the care Randy received before and after his transplant. Young, who has three starts in the “Lone Star State,” including his first top-15 finish (June, 2014) hopes to “treat” his dad to his first top-10 finish of the season in Friday night’s Halloween special.
