Townley Posts 18th at New Hampshire

John Wes Townley posted an 18th-place finish in the running of the UNOH175 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Saturday, September 20, 2014.

Townley placed the No. 05 Zaxby’s Athenian Motorsports entry in the 17th-place on the starting grid for the 175 lap race on the 1.058 mile Loudon, New Hampshire race track.

Townley was strong out of the box, looking to advance to the 15th-place position on lap 20 when his Toyota Tundra got a little free, slightly clipping the outside wall while making a pass. The incident caused minor damage to the Zaxby’s Tundra and the Watkinsville, GA driver was able to continue.

The Athenian Motorsports team brought Townley down pit road several times during cautions on the track, trying to adjust the tow on the Zaxby’s truck. Unfortunately, the the damage was too much for the team to pull off a top-10 finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“We just didn’t have the right setup for practice this weekend but these Athenian Motorsports guys worked hard to try to get us where we needed to be for the race,” John Wes Townley said.  “We were pretty strong at the beginning today but the truck just got away from me early on and I tapped the outside wall, which messed up the tow and knocked out the camber of this Zaxby’s truck.  We were able to rally back, with everyone’s hard work, to pull off a top-20.  It isn’t where we want to be or really should be- but I’m hoping that we can turn the rest of the season around starting in Las Vegas next week.”
