Ray Black Jr. will make his third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start on Saturday August 2nd as he takes the wheel of the No. 08 Scubalife/NASE Worldwide Silverado again for SS Green Light Racing in the Pocono Mountains 150 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.
The two-and a half mile track known affectionately as “The Tricky Triangle” due to it’s three distinct corners and three different length straightaways will be a new challenge for the Florida late-model racer. “Pocono is double the size of any track I have ever raced on before,” states Black.
“I’m really excited about this race and I’m ready to learn,” he continued. “I’m always looking for a new challenge and we are going to get one for sure this week.”
One of Black’s sponsors, NASE Worldwide will have an informational booth set up the Pocono Raceway in the Fan Fair on the backside of the grandstand close to gate 10 this weekend and Black is looking forward to meeting fans and educating them on the mission of NASE Worldwide. “I’m excited that we will have a tent to promote dive training at the track.”
“I’m really looking forward to this race; I know it’s a fast track and I have talked a lot with Bobby (team owner Bobby Dotter) about the track and how I will need to drive it to be fast. We don’t have a lot of practice time but Bobby knows a lot about Pocono and he and the team will help me learn how to carry speed down the long straightaways. Hopefully I can get up on the wheel and get our ScubaLife/NASE Worldwide Chevy to a good finish,” concluded Black.
The Pocono Mountains 150 will prelude Sunday’s GoBowling.com 400 and is the 324th consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team, a streak that dates back to 2001.
Practice for the Pocono Mountains 150 will be Friday, August 1st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 3:25 p.m. On Saturday, August 2nd qualifying will begin at 9:50 a.m. and the green flag will fly for the Pocono Mountains 150at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. The race will be shown live on FOX Sports 1 and will also be broadcasted via the Motor Racing Network and on SIRIUSXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
