Truck Debut…Ben Kennedy will attempt to make his first career start in one of NASCAR’s top-three national series this Wednesday, August 21 at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS). Kennedy, a 21-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla. native and University of Florida senior, will attempt to qualify for his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race in the UNOH 200 at BMS. Kennedy’s No. 96 truck entry is not locked-in on owner’s points and he will have to qualify his way into the race on time.
Returning to Bristol…While Kennedy is attempting to make his first career start in the NCWTS at BMS, he’s no stranger to the 0.533-mile concrete oval. He’s made two starts at the track in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (2012, 2013). Kennedy completed all laps and finished in the top 10 in both of the races.
This Week’s Silverado…This week’s No. 96 ModSpace Motorsports/Fresh from Florida Chevrolet Silverado has been prepared by Turner Scott Motorsports. The No. 96 Ben Kennedy Racing team will unload chassis TSM-230 at BMS. The team tested with this chassis at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this month.
Watch and Listen…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns for another mid-week race with the UNOH 200 at BMS. The race can be seen live on Wednesday, August 21 on FOX Sports 1. Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.
Crew Chief Chris Carrier on Ben Kennedy and Racing at Bristol:
“Ben [Kennedy] is a great young man. We tested at Bristol [Motor Speedway] earlier this month and he was very focused in the truck and has a lot of talent. We had a very productive test. We ran 300 laps in race trim, did three mock qualifying runs, and practiced restarts and coming into pit road. I think Ben is really prepared for the race and I’m looking forward to working with a rookie in the Truck Series. Our goal is to keep the truck clean all night and be there at the end with a chance to win.”
