Ryan Blaney (@RyanBlaney22), driver of the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150, made his first ever career start at Michigan International Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) during Saturday afternoon’s Michigan National Guard 200 after qualifying in the 19th position earlier in the day.
Blaney did not have luck on his side today, as the No. 54 came down on his Cooper Standard F-150 before the conclusion of the first lap and ultimately ended his day before he was able to get back to the start/finish line.
Primary sponsor, Cooper Standard, had 2,000 employees and guests on hand at the track spreading from the grandstands, hospitality village to the suite level. Blaney and owner, Brad Keselowski, made a joint appearance at Cooper Standard’s hospitality chalet after the race conclusion.
Tomorrow, Cooper Standard, will be back at Michigan International to pull for Brad Keselowski in his Penske Racing Miller Lite Ford Fusion during the Pure Michigan 400.
Blaney now sits eighth in the NCWTS driver point standings, 85 points behind the leader.
The Cooper Standard machine takes to the track again on Wednesday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“Such a disappointing day for our Cooper Standard guests to only have the opportunity to see me run a half of a lap before getting wrecked on the first lap of the race. However, it was great to interact with all the Cooper employees and guests today at the track.
