Rare Failure Plagues FAS Lane Racing and OXYwater™ Ford

FAS Lane Racing and rookie driver Timmy Hill entered the Auto Club 400 riding momentum with a new sponsor on board and coming off a strong finish last week at Bristol with former champion Terry Labonte.  However, that momentum was halted early at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California after a fitting came loose in the back of the rear end gear on lap 30 putting the No. 32 OXYwater™ Ford behind the wall for repairs.  The team and driver would return to the track but was relegated to a disappointing 39th place finish in the 200-lap event.

“That was a very disappointing race for our team and sponsor,” stated FAS Lane Racing owner Frank Stoddard. “Timmy and the guys on this team did a great job all weekend and we were just taking our time early in the race when disaster struck.  It appears we had a problem with a fitting in the back of the rear end that caused us to lose the oil and ultimately the rear gear to break.  The guys worked hard to get it repaired and get us back out on the track but we lost a lot of laps in the garage.  We very rarely have issues like this so we just need to chalk this one up as one of those rare occurrences that happen during the course of a long season.”

The tough 39th place finish dropped FAS Lane Racing to 36th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series owners points.  The finish was the teams worst of the 2013 season.

“This was a tough first start of the season for me,” said Hill.  “But everyone on this OXYwater™ team worked their tails off all weekend and that is exciting for the races ahead of us.  “As the weekend went on we were getting our OXYwater™ Ford better with every lap and I really felt good about the race until the early parts failure.  We will just regroup and head to the next one.”

FAS Lane Racing and their No. 32 OXYwater™ Ford will have a weekend off for the Easter holiday before heading to Martinsville Speedway for the running of the STP Gas Booster 400 on Sunday April 7th at 1:00 p.m. ET.    The race can be viewed LIVE nationally on FOX and heard on affiliated MRN radio stations and on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio 90.
