NASCAR Driver Writes About Her Competitive Nature And Its Influence On Her Relationships

The Players’ Tribune, the new multimedia digital company founded and published by Derek Jeter, today named NASCAR driver Danica Patrick as a Senior Editor of the platform.  She is the second senior editor to be named, following last week’s announcement of quarterback Russell Wilson’s involvement.

Patrick’s first piece of content for The Players’ Tribune explores how she navigates her personal relationship with fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. while maintaining her competitive edge. It is available at www.theplayerstribune.com/relationship-status-normal-ish/.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase my own voice and opinions,” Patrick said of the decision to join The Players’ Tribune. “In the past when I’ve read stories about me, they don’t always capture who I am, what I think, what I feel. Here’s my chance to really give people a sense of my personality.”

Patrick’s piece had a lighter tone, a marked contrast to Wilson’s inaugural piece about bullying and domestic violence, noted The Players’ Tribune’s Editorial Director Gary Hoenig.

“The Players’ Tribune is a platform for athletes to tell their unfiltered stories,” said Hoenig. “They can discuss whatever they want. The common denominator is content will always be fresh and direct from the source.”

In the coming weeks, The Players’ Tribune will continue to announce additional professional athlete editors and contributors, and welcomes all athletes into our community who have stories to tell and want their voices heard.

The Players’ Tribunewill provide fans with unprecedented access to top athletes across every sport.  The platform gives athletes the tools to develop and create quality content ranging from first-person written features to videos, podcasts, photo galleries, polls and more, and will cover topics from sports commentary to lifestyle and popular culture. The Players’ Tribune will provide an authentic and holistic perspective from the athletes themselves and will be “The Voice of the Game.”

Legendary Entertainment is a partner in The Players’ Tribune, providing creative support as well as capital. Led by Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull, Legendary Entertainment is a prominent producer of film, television and digital content.
