Truex Jr. Finishes 25th in Richmond

Martin Truex Jr. finished 25th in Saturday night’s Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway.

Truex, who qualified 29th, could not get his No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet untracked at the .75-mile oval.

And adding to Truex’s despair he was called for a pit-road speeding penalty, which cost him to go another lap down.

“There’s really not much to say, it just wasn’t a good night for our Furniture Row team,” said Truex, who ended the race four laps down. “We had a good race here back in the spring (finished 10th), but couldn’t get it done tonight.”

Crew chief Todd Berrier called for a number of adjustments throughout the 400-lap race but nothing seemed to click for the single-car team based in Denver, Colo.

Truex remained 25th in the Sprint Cup point standings.

The Federated Auto Parts 400 winner was Brad Keselowski. Rounding out the top-10 in order were: Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman and Aric Almirola.

The race had four lead changes among two drivers (Keselowski and Harvick) and there were four cautions for 27 laps.
