Bowman records solid 31st-place result in New Hampshire

Alex Bowman and the No. 23 Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team finished 31st at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon.  Like his BK Racing teammates, the Sunoco Rookie contender was challenged with the balance of his racecar throughout the 301-mile event, but avoided all trouble on the track and went on to finish in the 31st position.

Competing in his first Sprint Cup Series event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Bowman rolled off 35th for Sunday’s race.  Early in the race Bowman faced a challenging balance with the handling of his racecar, as this Toyota Camry was loose on entry and exit, despite being tight through the center of the turns.

Throughout the 300-plus mile event, the Dr Pepper team was able to benefit from a varying pit strategy to regain ground lost on the track.  Able to avoid any on-track incidents, Bowman drove to a clean finish while crossing the finish line in the 31st position.

“New Hampshire Motor Speedway is not an easy track” commented Bowman.  “It was a challenge today to get the balance right in our Toyota Camry.  However, the Dr Pepper team didn’t give up.  They continued to make changes to our car every chance they had, and we got much better as the race progressed.  I’m glad we’re taking our car home in one piece–that will be less work for the guys at the shop and give them more time to focus on our cars for the upcoming races.  I think everyone is looking forward to our ‘summer vacation’ next week, but I’m really excited to race in my first Brickyard 400 when we get back.  It should be a lot of fun.”
