Another solid top-30 finish for Whitt in Kentucky

Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry team finished 28th at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night.  Despite facing challenges with the handling of his car, Whitt scored his eighth-straight top-30 finish since joining BK Racing.

Whitt rolled off 30th for his first Sprint Cup Series race at Kentucky Speedway.  Early in the race, the Sunoco Rookie contender called into his crew to report a tight handling condition through the corners.  Working closely with his crew to make adjustments during each pit stop, the team made a variety of air pressure, chassis and spring rubber adjustments throughout the evening.

As the race progressed, the handling of the Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry also improved, as the tight handling condition eased during the long green-flag runs.  With the balance of his car where he needed it, Whitt drove to a 28th-place finish.

“I’m really proud of the continued effort by our Speed Stick GEAR Toyota Camry team,” commented Whitt.  “Despite having this team come together mid-season, lately we’ve been able to put together a string of solid finishes and this week wasn’t any different.  We had to take some time to work on the balance of our car throughout the race, but we were really able to improve it on the long run.  I’m looking forward to the race next weekend at Daytona–anything can happen there.  It should be a lot of fun.”
