Truex finishes 33rd in Kentucky

Ryan Truex and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team finished 33rd at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night.  After challenges with the balance of their car during the early stages of the race, Truex was able to work closely with his BK Racing crew to improve their Toyota Camry and drive to a 33rd-place finish.

Truex rolled off 39th in his Sprint Cup Series debut at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night.  With the track known for its challenges and rough surface, Truex fought the balance of his car early in the race as it lacked front grip throughout each of the corners.  Working closely with his Burger King / Dr Pepper team, Truex and his crew opted to make substantial adjustments to their Toyota Camry throughout each pit stop.  Improving the car with each pit stop, Truex slowly climbed the scoring charts at the 1.5-mile speedway.

Competing in a race-high 33rd position by lap 105, Truex was able to maintain his track position all the way to the checkered flag where he claimed a 33rd-place finish.

“Our Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team did a great job continually making our car better tonight,” commented Truex.  “We were a bit off with the handling when the green flag waved, but the guys worked through a variety of adjustments, which enabled us to improve all night.  We raced as high as the 33rd position and we were able to finish 33rd, so it’s a good night when you can say that you were running at your peak when the checkered flag waved.  I’m hopeful that we will be able to carry some of the momentum from this weekend into the race next weekend in Daytona.”
