Top-30 finish for Whitt at Dover

Cole Whitt and the No. 26 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team finished 27th at Dover (Del.) International Speedway on Sunday afternoon.  Despite working through challenges with the handling of his racecar throughout the race, the Sunoco Rookie contender was able to record his eighth top-30 finish of the season.

Whitt rolled off 31st for the 400-mile race at the concrete oval.  The Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry was initially fighting a loose handling condition early in the race.  However, after making significant adjustments to the chassis and tires, the balance of the car turned and Whitt fought a tight condition through the corners.  Throughout the entire 400-lap event, Whitt worked closely with his BK Racing team to make improvements to their Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry.  Avoiding all on-track incidents, Whitt led the BK Racing team with a 27th-place finish.

“It seemed like we fought the handling all day on our Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry,” commented Whitt.  “While we did improve throughout the day, we never got our car handling exactly as I would have liked.  I’m happy with the effort of my team-it’s easy to get frustrated and give up, but that never happened today.  The good news is that through everything and trying different adjustments to see how the car reacted, we built a solid notebook to help us when we come back to Dover in the fall.”
