Biffle finishes 21st in Coca-Cola 600

In honor of Memorial Weekend, Biffle’s No. 16 Ford was part of a three-car tribute to our American Heroes by Fastenal with his Roush teammates for the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race of the season.  Biffle qualified his Fastenal Ford 24th and struggled with grip throughout the entire 600 mile race, hanging on until the very end for a 21st-place finish.

Being the longest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600 creates a unique challenge for teams as the race starts in the evening and goes into night.  Biffle’s Ford started off so loose he wasn’t sure how he’d hang on, but with air pressure, shim and track bar adjustments he found himself reporting back around 150 laps in that his handling was much better.

As the race progressed from day to night, Biffle’s Ford struggled with turn.  Biffle was a lap down to the field and could never take the “wave around” to get his lap back because a lead car always stayed out when the team wanted to try that strategy.

Some competitors gambled with fuel strategy, but Biffle brought his Fastenal Ford to pit-road as he battled the handling of his Fastenal Ford.  With a mostly green flag race, Biffle settled for a 21st-place finish, two laps down to the field.
