Edwards, No. 99 Fastenal Team Shine at All-Star

Carl Edwards led Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) with a fifth-place finish in Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  Edwards started the day by capturing his second straight Sprint All-Star race pole and went on to lead 18 laps en route to the finish.  Greg Biffle ran strong in the race, but was caught up in a late-race accident and finished 19th.

Edwards Fastenal ‘Blue Team’ pit crew put the No. 99 Ford Fusion out in first position for the final 10-lap dash to the checkered flag, but after a heated battle with Jamie McMurray for the lead, Edwards was unable to clear the eventual race winner and settled for the top-five finish.

RFR returns to action tomorrow in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Iowa Speedway, where the team has won four times in the last three seasons, including last year with Trevor Bayne.

The Sprint Cup Series will return to action at Charlotte next weekend for the season’s longest race; the Coca-Cola 600. RFR has posted eight wins in the Sprint Cup Series at Charlotte.
