Reutimann chases handling, finishes 28th at Texas

David Reutimann and the No. 83 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry finished 28th at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, November 3.  After starting near the back of the pack, Reutimann’s BK Racing team worked to improve their car with every stop enabling their driver to finish solidly inside the top 30.

Reutimann rolled off 39th in his No. 83 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry in the AAA Texas 500.  With his BK Racing teammate right in front of him, the duo took off on a charge through the field.  Moving inside the top 30 within the opening 20 laps, Reutimann continued to fight through the field all night.  Needing more overall grip after about 15 green-flag laps, Reutimann’s BK Racing team worked diligently to fine-tune the handling of their car.  As the track cooled down, Reutimann continued to hold a solid position inside the top-30 competitors despite the blistering pace that was being set by the race leaders.  By the time the checkered flag waved, Reutimann was scored in the 28th position.

“Our No. 83 Burger King / Dr Pepper Toyota Camry was really strong on the short run tonight,” commented Reutimann.  “Unfortunately the race had a lot of green flag runs, which left us searching for grip after about 15 laps.  My BK Racing team did a great job adjusting on our car all night to keep up with the changing track conditions, but we still fought the overall handling on the long run.  As they do every week, the guys have put a lot of time and effort into preparing our car for Phoenix next week.  I’m looking forward to what we’re able to do there; I think it will be a great race.”
