McDowell Signs With No. 95 For 2014

Leavine Family Racing (LFR) announced Monday that Michael McDowell will drive their No. 95 Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entry in 2014. The team made the announcement at Texas Motor Speedway which is their home track.

The contract is a single-year deal and McDowell will debut with the team in the Daytona 500 next February. The 28-year-old has competed within all of NASCAR’s top-three series including 144-starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. McDowell’s career hasn’t been filled with success as his best finish was 9th earlier this year; his career has been mired with start and parks.

“This is an extremely good opportunity for me,” said McDowell, who has worked with the Leavine Family Racing Sprint Cup team before, at this season’s Sprint All-Star race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. “Bob and I first started talking about the possibilities months ago. I’m happy to be a part of this organization.”

“Michael drove for us at the Sprint All-Star race and he left a great impression,” Leavine said. “When we started thinking about a driver for next year, he was at the top of our list.

The Leavine Family Racing team is yet to announce their 2014 schedule, but they said they would like to race a full-time NSCS entry and a part-time NNS entry.
