Kvapil finishes 35th in Charlotte after mid-race vibration

Travis Kvapil and the No. 93 Dr Pepper Toyota Camry team finished 35th at Charlotte (N.C.) on Saturday, October 12.  After picking up a vibration mid-way through the race, Kvapil’s BK Racing team diagnosed a problem with the right front tire.  Unable to regain track position following the issue, Kvapil crossed the finish line in the 35th position.

Travis Kvapil rolled off 41st for the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  With his car becoming free as the race-run progressed, Kvapil set a steady pace to climb through the field and into the 35th position, receiving a free pass by lap 80.  Following the second stop of the race, Kvapil called into his crew to report a vibration developing.  When the problem persisted after changing tires, the team started to look at the internal mechanics of the wheels and discovered a problem in the right front tire on lap 173.  As a result, Kvapil was scored several laps behind the leader and unable to make up much ground.  With track conditions continuing to change, Kvapil’s BK Racing team continued to fine-tune the handling of their Toyota Camry throughout the night.  At the conclusion of the race, Kvapil crossed the finish line in the 35th position.

“We obviously didn’t get the finish we were hoping for this weekend with our No. 93 Dr Pepper Toyota Camry,” commented Kvapil.  “We developed a vibration early in the race, which really set us behind.  It initially appeared to be a loose wheel, but once we realized that it was a more serious problem, my Dr Pepper team did a great job checking our car and diagnosing the problem.  Unfortunately, by that point we lost several laps and were in a difficult place to regain track position.  I can’t thank my guys enough for their effort this weekend and for standing by me; I’m looking forward to the next one.”
