Apparel Giant Back on Track with RCR at Richmond International Raceway

One of Richard Childress Racing’s enduring sponsors, VF Corporation, is back on track this weekend at Richmond International Raceway.  VF, which also owns the fan favorite Wrangler® brand, introduces the No. 31 Airgas/Bulwark® Chevrolet driven by NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran Jeff Burton.  The new car is emblazoned with graphics from Bulwark®, as well as one of the company’s major distributors, Airgas.

Bulwark®, the leader in flame resistant apparel, serves workers in the oil and gas, electrical utility and industrial electrician markets, all of which have an elevated risk of fire.  “Accidents do happen on the job and people aren’t fireproof,” said Stan Jewell, VP/General Manager of Bulwark®. Workers need protection when the unthinkable happens and that is what we have been doing for 42 years — protecting and saving lives.”

“I have had a personal and professional relationship with Wrangler® for years,” said Richard Childress, President and CEO of Richard Childress Racing.  “They are the only jeans I wear.  I was excited that VF Imagewear chose to promote Bulwark® with us.  We have proven we can drive awareness and fan connection to brands.  This is a brand that people in some occupations really need to know.”

“Bulwark® is all about safety and safety is a team game,” said Brett Barthel, VP Sales for VF Imagewear and Bulwark®.  “It was only appropriate that we invited one of our partners, Airgas, to join us this weekend.”

Airgas, which is the market leader in industrial gases and a leading distributor of Bulwark apparel, will use this opportunity to experience the passion of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing firsthand while entertaining VIP guests.

“Safety is important, at the racetrack and in the workplace,” said Burton. “It’s not something anybody likes to think about, you just want to be sure that if something happens you’re wearing the right gear.  I’m proud to drive for Bulwark® this weekend.”

Burton, currently in his 20th full-time season in NASCAR’s premier division, has amassed 21 wins, 132 top-five finishes, 249 top-10 finishes, six pole awards and led 6,513 laps during his illustrious career. Burton has qualified for the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup from 2006-2008 and in 2010 with 14-time championship winning car owner Childress.
