Blaney Leave the Circus with Top-25 Finish

Tommy Baldwin Racing and the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS arrived at Texas Motor Speedway Thursday morning. As soon as the crew unloaded the car, they got ready for a full day of testing. Coming into the weekend with an Earnhardt Childress Racing (ECR) engine, the team was confident but knew they had work ahead of them.

After hours of testing, and two practice sessions on Friday afternoon, Blaney and his crew were ready for qualifying. Rolling off 39th in line, he qualified for Saturday’s NRA 500 28th.

At the start of the race, Blaney spent the first 150 laps running long green flag runs. Having to make pit stops under green, Blaney went 3 laps down early on, making adjustments to the car. However, it was not until after the sun went down that excitement began. Halfway thru, the cautions allowed Blaney to gain a lap back and climb positions.

Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America Chevy ended the race with a solid top-25 finish. The finish also netted the team a gain in the points, moving up one position in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings.

Team Owner and Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin commented after the race, “Great effort today boys. We had great pit stops that helped us gain positions all night. I’m proud of everybody, and all the hard work they put into this weekend.”

Dave is currently 146 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson in the race for the Sprint Cup Championship. This week the TBR teams head to Kansas Motor Speedway for the STP 400.
